Placenta Encapsulation Services

Certified Placenta Encapsulation specialist, Certified in Blood borne Pathogens, Infectious disease control, certified in Food safety/food handlers

Placenta Pick up:

Location of birth: As a part of my service, I will personally come to the birthing location, whether it's a hospital, birthing center, or your home, to collect your placenta as soon after birth as possible. I understand the importance of handling the placenta with care and ensuring its freshness and quality.

Placenta Print:

In addition to encapsulation, I offer the option to create a beautiful and personalized placenta print. Using safe and non-toxic ink, I will carefully press the placenta onto high-quality paper, capturing the intricate patterns and shapes. This unique keepsake serves as a memorable reminder of the amazing journey of childbirth.

Cord Keepsake:

I believe in celebrating the connection between you and your baby, which is why I offer the option to create a special keepsake using the umbilical cord. Whether it's a cord necklace or a framed cord art piece, this sentimental memento allows you to cherish the bond you share with your little one.

Tinctures and Salves:

As part of my comprehensive placenta encapsulation service, I provide the option to create additional products from the placenta, such as tinctures and salves. Tinctures are created by steeping small pieces of the placenta in alcohol, resulting in a potent remedy that can be used for hormonal balance, energy restoration, and emotional well-being. Salves, on the other hand, are made by combining the placenta with nourishing oils and herbs, providing a soothing and healing balm for various postpartum concerns. scroll to the bottom of page to learn more about uses for Salves and Tinctures.

Placenta encapsulation:

After carefully collecting the placenta, I follow a strict and hygienic encapsulation process. This involves cleaning, (raw or steamed, dehydrating, and grinding the placenta into a fine powder. The powder is then encapsulated in vegetarian capsules. I take great care to ensure the highest quality and safety standards throughout the process. Once the encapsulation is complete, I provide you with detailed instructions on how to use the capsules for postpartum recovery and overall well-being. These instructions are tailored to your specific needs and include dosage recommendations and storage guidelines.

Drop off:

Once the encapsulation process is finished, I understand that your comfort and convenience are essential. Therefore, I personally deliver the encapsulated placenta to your home. This ensures a seamless experience for you as a new mom, allowing you to focus on bonding with your baby and adjusting to the postpartum period.

I am dedicated to providing a comprehensive and personalized placenta encapsulation service that honors the experience of childbirth and supports your well-being during the postpartum journey.

Placenta Encapsulation Benefits

Helps to balance postpartum hormones

The sudden drop in estrogen, progesterone, endorphins, and other hormones during women's postpartum time, may trigger depression the same way moodiness is triggered by premenstrual changes in these hormones. it may take months for a women's body to replenish and level out the hormones.

By consuming the placenta, the mother reintroduces those important hormones back into her system in the most natural way.

Replenishes depleted iron levels

Many women are iron deficient on even anemic after delivery, peaking at one week postpartum. This may lead to fatigue, irritability, exhaustion, insufficient milk supply, and even postpartum depression. Therefore, increasing iron levels should decrease fatigue and prevent, minimize, or eliminate postpartum depression. For this reason, many women are choosing to encapsulate. The placenta is rich in iron, making consumption an excellent resource during the mother's postpartum time.

Helps uterus return to it's pre pregnancy state

Since the placenta contains high levels of prostaglandin and oxytocin, this stimulates involution of the uterus, or shrinking or returning to a former size, when consumed. Homebirth midwife Jennifer West states in her book, "The Natural Healing Power of the Placenta," that for a client of hers who had consumed her placenta, her uterus was almost completely involuted five days post birth, which would normally feel that size around two to four weeks postpartum. She continued to see that trend from clients of hers who consumed their placenta in some form.

Reduces postpartum bleeding

The placenta contains inhibitors of urokinase, which can help reduce or stop bleeding. Oxytocin also helps to reduce blood loss. A mother who is experiencing heavy bleeding immediately after delivery may benefit from consuming a small chunk of her placenta to control the bleeding. This can be done by quickly breaking off a quarter size piece from the maternal side, and having the mother place either under her tongue, or place between her cheek and gum and keep there until the bleeding has subsided. A mother may choose to chew and swallow the piece, however not all woman can tolerate the idea of it. This option may be done as a precaution, in lieu of uterine contracting drugs, or in an emergent situation.

Increases milk supply

The placenta contains high levels of estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen and progesterone inhibit the stimulatory effects of prolactin on milk production, then oxytocin triggers the milk let-down. There is some evidence that placenta consumption may increase milk supply, however further research must be done.

Increases energy levels

Thyroid hormones pass through into the placenta and contribute to the baby's development. When taken during the postpartum phase, these hormones may assist with metabolism and energy levels. The increased iron from the placenta also contributes to the increased energy levels.

Offers antiviral protection

Interferons produced by the placenta may offer protection against infections and stimulate the immune system.

Offers natural pain relief

Placental Opioid-Enhancing Factor (POEF) is found in amniotic fluid and the placenta. This may contribute to enhance the effectiveness of opioids, or modify endogenous opioid activity, reducing delivery-related pain. This potential benefit could be especially helpful for mothers who have cesarean births, episiotomies, or severe tears.

Placenta Salves

Placenta has long been used in skincare for its healing and restorative properties.

There are several expensive anti-aging lotions and creams containing “sheep placenta extract” as a secret ingredient. Your own placenta is much more potent and completely safe to use topically when properly prepared. Think of the salve as a super healing, natural triple antibiotic ointment!

The salve base is made of Organic Shea Butter, organic coconut oil, organic beeswax, organic extra virgin olive oil, and vitamin E. They are also infused with different organic essential oils for scent.

Salve can be used for the topical healing of:

  • Cesarean incisions

  • Cracked nipples

  • Perineal tears

  • Diaper Rash

  • Baby eczema

  • Cradle cap

  • Infant belly button

  • Cracked and dry skin

  • Hemorrhoids

  • Sunburns

  • Skin irritations

To use placenta salve on a cesarean incision, wait until bandages have been removed and the wound has closed up.

It can be used during postpartum for hemorrhoids and perineal tearing. (best if used after stitches have dissolved.) A mother who birth vaginally can also use this cream on tender or torn perineal area.

The same rules for taking encapsulated placenta internally applies for placenta salve: if infection of any kind is suspected, stop use until all symptoms disappear.

It is safe for your baby as long as the baby has no skin allergies.

Store in a cool, dark drawer or cabinet, or in the refrigerator. Best if used within three months.

If you would like to purchase another placenta salve after yours is gone, i will need four placenta capsules to make one jar of salve.

Placenta Tinctures

  • Keep in a cool dark place.

  • Shake/swirl the bottle a few times per week.

  • Check alcohol level. Alcohol may evaporate. If pieces on placenta aren't fully submerged, air can introduce mold and bacteria into the tincture, add extra alcohol if necessary.

  • After SIX to EIGHT weeks, you may strain contents of tincture through a piece of cheesecloth, muslin, a coffee filter,or a fine metal strainer, and place in a jar. Allow to drip, then press/twist contents to extract as much of the liquid as possible. Discard any solid matter. Place tincture back into the dropper bottle using a funnel.

The longer the tincture sits the more placenta breaks down into the liquid. It may not be necessary to strain if using for future use.

Suggested intake:

Seven to Ten drops may be administered under the tongue or mixed with a little water/juice, up to three times per day. Ensure that you (the mother) is following the cues of your body, just as you would with placenta capsules.

If you wish to add your tincture to tea, add to the tea only right before drinking.

Placenta Tinctures are known to support hormonal balance, boost energy levels, and alleviate symptoms of postpartum depression. Some individuals also use placenta tincture as a general health supplement, citing improvements in mood and lactation. Additionally, it may offer immune support due to the rich nutrient profile of the placenta.
